Aphrodite Hills
Arguably the best course in Cyprus and certainly one of the best golf courses the Mediterranean has to offer. The acclaimed course architect, Cabell B Robinson, described Aphrodite Hills as 'the culmination of my 35 years designing courses, and I rate it among my very best work.' | The par 5 3rd A daunting drive from the tiger tee
The par 3 7th Take enough club! | Following the contours of its two plateaux, the course cuts through lakes, olive and carob trees to provide a breathtaking test of golf. The deep ravine separating the plateaux surely provides for two of the greatest shots in world golf. The 200m carry from the 'tiger' tee on the par 5 3rd or the much shorter tee shot to the par 3 7th from a position perched half way down the side of the canyon, are not for the faint hearted. Short is simply not an option. You would have to don the mountain gear to play your next! Incidently the buggy ride to the 7th tee and subsequently to the green is up with any thrill ride Disney has to offer and well worth the green fee alone. Oh! And then you have to compose yourself to play the memorable 8th. A par 4 to a tight green perched high above the Mediterranean coast, absolutely fantastic but this time don't be long!
Aphrodite Hills is a par 71 and is 6299m long. It is the focal point of a luxurious development that supports a number of restaurants, pub, health spa, tennis courts and a large hotel. The course also features a large driving range, golf academy, 3 hole academy course, PGA qualified teaching professionals, lovely clubhouse with bar and restaurant and a well stocked pro shop. As mentioned the terrain on a couple of holes is challenging and therefore buggies are mandatory.
